Our Services
The Portuguese Learning Center of East Providence was established as non-profit organization in 2013. Before that, it was the Escola Portuguesa da Casa dos Açores de Nova Inglaterra.
Rhode Island is the state with the highest percentage of Portuguese population; as such, the ability to communicate in the Portuguese language is an asset to any citizen of this state and region.
At the Portuguese Learning Center, we strive to teach both Portuguese language and culture to children and adults alike. Our classes aim to be culturally and linguistic enriching and engaging.
Children’s Classes
Thursdays 5:30-7:30
$360 (full year)
Classes run from the first week of October through May. We will work on cultural activities and through the textbooks provided by the Instituto Camões. Students are split by age group.
Adult Classes (Beginners)
Wednesday 6-8
$275 (12-week session)
For adults who have little to know knowledge of the Portuguese language. 12 week session begins on October 7.
Adult Classes (Intermediate)
Tuesdays 6-8
$275 (12-week session)
For adults who have background in Portuguese and/or have taken PLC Adult Classes for several sessions. Classes begin on October 1.
